WARRANTY & REPAIRS POLICY

At Wasserman E-bikes, we are committed to providing high-quality e-bikes and reliable after-sales support. This policy outlines your rights and our procedures regarding warranties and repairs.

1. Statutory Warranty (South African Law)

All products are covered by a 6-month implied warranty in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).

If your e-bike is defective within 6 months of delivery, you may choose:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Full refund

This applies to defects in materials, parts, or workmanship under normal use.

2. Manufacturer Warranties

Certain components may include additional manufacturer warranties:

  • Motor
  • Battery
  • Controller
  • Display unit

Warranty periods and terms may vary depending on the manufacturer.

These warranties may extend beyond the 6-month CPA period but are subject to supplier terms.

3. What Is Covered

The warranty covers:

  • Manufacturing defects
  • Electrical system failures under normal use
  • Faulty components not caused by user damage

4. What Is NOT Covered

The warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear (e.g. tyres, brake pads, chains)
  • Battery performance degradation over time
  • Damage caused by:
    • Accidents or crashes
    • Water exposure or improper storage
    • Incorrect charging practices
    • Overloading or misuse
  • Unauthorised repairs or modifications
  • Commercial or rental use (unless agreed in writing)

5. Battery Warranty (Important)

  • Batteries are consumable components and degrade over time
  • Gradual capacity loss is normal and not considered a defect
  • Battery issues will be assessed based on manufacturer guidelines

To maintain warranty validity:

  • Use only approved chargers
  • Avoid deep discharge and overcharging
  • Store in a cool, dry environment

6. Repairs Process

7. Collection & Repair Costs

Within Warranty (Valid Claim)

  • Collection and return delivery: covered by us
  • Repair or replacement: no cost

Outside Warranty / Non-Valid Claim

  • Inspection fee may apply
  • Repair costs will be quoted before work begins
  • Customer is responsible for shipping costs

8. Turnaround Time

  • Repairs typically take 7–21 business days
  • Delays may occur depending on:
    • Parts availability
    • Supplier lead times

We will keep you updated throughout the process.

9. Replacement Parts

  • Replacement parts may be new or refurbished
  • All replacement parts are covered by a 3-month repair warranty

10. Customer Responsibilities

To maintain your warranty, you must:

  • Use the e-bike according to instructions
  • Perform basic maintenance (e.g. tyre pressure, cleaning)
  • Service the e-bike when required
  • Keep proof of purchase

11. Limitation of Liability

We are not responsible for:

  • Loss of use during repairs
  • Indirect or consequential damages
  • Damage caused by failure to follow instructions
